Two months into The Back Half: Settling into a schedule and teasing some upcoming projects

When I started The Back Half here on Substack, one of my main goals was to not write as if I’m just doing another blog. For one, a “blog post” seems about as dated a term these days as a “USENET post.” (For younger readers, USENET was a tech communication tool people used after faxes but before Nude Africa.)

For another, blogging was always a particularly meandering and self-indulgent format — and not just for me, although I’ll cop to the fact that the late Buggblog veered wildly between timely political/cultural commentary and weird little items about seeing a lost chihuahua on my drive home from the grocery store.

Content. So compelling.

While I’ll never promise to avoid wild subject swings, since that’s kind of my whole thing, I’m definitely not interested in clogging your inbox with nonsensical, random things written just because I realize I haven’t written something in a while (which sums up the entire late-aughts/early-tens blogosphere).
