I mentioned last week that the science fiction holy trinity of my youth was Star Trek, Star Wars, and the Space Shuttle.

It’s a shame that all these decades later, it’s the non-fiction one of those that’s no longer active, with the shuttle’s actual scientific legacy cancelled and overshadowed by tragedies. My childhood dreams of space stations and moon bases have been delayed by decades and co-opted by tech-bro megalomaniacs.
