January is time for the new. New goals, new routines, new diets, new gyms, new you.

Not for me in 2025.

While November and December had a post-election, slouching towards Gomorrah vibe, January 2025 has had a distinct, fuck this is really happening vibe. I’m not getting into all that — yet — but it’s left me craving comfort over curiosity in my media consumption.

I’m pausing the new and seeking out the familiar. Once I get my bearings for this four-year stretch of cruelty for the sake of cruelty, I’ll be back to seeking out some new and different things. Even if there’ll always be room for comfort on the menu.
